Tender Earth

Laila is an eleven-year-old girl, the youngest member of the Levenson family, and she finds it difficult to cope with several major changes in her life. As she prepares to move from primary to secondary school, her older siblings are about to leave home for the first time. Kez, her best friend from primary school, who uses a wheelchair, is longing for independence and wants to distance herself and make new friends. All of this causes Laila to feel lonely and unsure about her identity within her family, her community and the world. But Laila is inspired to stand up for what she believes in, just like her grandmother in the past, and we follow her journey as she discovers what is important to her, makes new friends from totally different backgrounds, mixes old relationships with new ones, and finds her voice.
