Does taking part cost anything?

 

Not at all, there’s no cost for you to be part of this project.

 

This project is part-funded by The Henry Smith Foundation and the LGBT Consortium.

 

Who can take part?

 

Welsh-medium high schools, 16-18 colleges and youth groups for young people aged 11 and older are all welcome to join the Welsh-speaking Forum.

 

The main part is that the young people are Welsh-speaking.

 

Sadly, as this is a pilot project, we do not currently have the capacity for primary schools.

Do we need an LGBTQ+ group to take part?

 

No, You do not need an LGBTQ+ or inclusive group to take part. 

 

We want to hear from a variety of young people, for example those who’ve been elected, like the student council, or other young people chosen by you.

Do participants need to identify as LGBTQ+?

No, we want to hear about the experiences and ideas of a variety of young people, however please remember that the purpose of the Fforwm Cymraeg is to discuss LGBTQ+ issues and inclusion in school settings.

Is there an English language version?

 

No. The aim of the forum is to join young Welsh-speaking people, with the intention of improving inclusivity in Welsh language schools.

 

However, bilingual schools can take part by using a group of young Welsh speakers.

 

How long will it take?

 

The initial session with your young people will take up to one hour, afterwards your group will be expected to attend an online meeting once a half term until the Spring Term of 2027.

 

The finished resource will be published by the Summer Term of 2027.

 

What will happen at the end of the first year of the Welsh-speaking Forum?

 

After the first year, we will be creating a useful resource based on what the young people have said in our meetings.

 

We also want to organise an in-person event for the young people to come together and launch the resource at the end of the project.

 

How will our school benefit?

 

By attending the online meetings with other schools, your young people will help to design a resource that will be distributed to schools for free at the end of the project.

Do we need to be a part of the project from the very beginning?

 

No. You are welcome to join the project at any point before Friday the 19th of February 2027.
