About Us

More Than Flags and Rainbows is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to make all schools, colleges and communities more inclusive spaces. Founded by Ian Timbrell, we have experience working with schools ad organisations across the UK and have delivered in-person and online training to thousands of teachers, as well as running a growing adoption and LGBTQ+ family network in South Wales.

Our collective has a range of expertise including working in primary, secondary and tertiary education, special schools, PRUs and in the corporate sector. Working with us, we will ensure that you get the people you need to help you on your journey.

We know that these are challenging times and so we access grant funding and raise funds through partner organisations, to keep costs low for schools and organisations, and provide some services for free.

We can't wait to work with you and look forward to partnering on a journey to make communities inclusive for all.

our Founder

I’ve worked in education for a long time, but the reason I do this work goes back much further than any job I’ve had.

When I was at school, I was bullied. I know what it feels like to walk into a classroom and not feel safe, not feel seen, and not feel like you belong. That stays with you. It’s a big part of why I care so much about the work I do now.

I want schools to be places where no child feels like that. Where every young person feels accepted for who they are and knows they matter.

I’m also a dad to my brilliant 12 year old son, who we adopted 10 years ago. Being his parent has only strengthened my belief that every child deserves to feel supported, understood, and proud of who they are.
