A History of My Weird

'A History of My Weird' follows the lives of two Year 7 children, Mo and Onyx, as they navigate their first term at secondary school. Mo is autistic and Onyx is non-binary. The story delves into their struggles with puberty, friendships, difficulties within their family lives, discrimination and bullying. Mo feels alienated and misunderstood by her peers and some of her teachers. She finds solace in her friendship with Onyx, who appreciates her for who she is. Together they explore an abandoned Victorian asylum, which becomes a symbol of their journey to accept their own differences. This story is a portrayal of life with autism and the challenges of being neurodiverse. It highlights Mo’s resilience and her efforts to find her voice and place in the world.
